What is Marketlum?

The operating system for internal markets

Marketlum helps autonomous teams, human and AI, collaborate and scale through services, agreements and economic coordination. Instead of managing people, you design a market where value flows.

Companies already behave like markets. Teams provide services, negotiate priorities and trade time for outcomes. Marketlum makes that market explicit, fair and visible.

Core concepts

Four building blocks

Every team is an actor with its own value balances. Actors provide services to each other and work together through agreements.

Actors

Teams, organizations and informal groups, with people and AI agents as their members.

Services & Offerings

What each actor provides, to whom, and at what price.

Agreements

Explicit commitments between actors that replace top-down assignments.

Event Stream

A single record of every exchange, so value flow is always transparent.

Inside Marketlum

Every agreement, claim and balance in one place

Each actor gets a home with its inbox, holdings, open claims and the agreements it has with other teams.

Marketlum home of an organization: inbox, holdings, open claims, agreements between teams and its Swiss Franc balance

Framework + software

More than a tool

Marketlum started as a management framework for running a company like a market, with each team acting as its own business.

The software makes that framework practical. And because it’s AI-first, you can shape it to your own organization.

  • A proven way to organize around purpose and value
  • AI-first software to run it
  • Coaching and services to get started

Our story

Born from running a company without managers

Paweł Jędrzejewski

Paweł Jędrzejewski

Founder of Marketlum, previously Sylius

Paweł Jędrzejewski has been a founder for more than a decade. He built Sylius, and for five of those years ran it on Holacracy, without managers. He didn’t learn self-organization from a book: he practised it, and paid for his mistakes.

Self-management worked. It also showed what was missing: a way for autonomous teams to agree on what they provide to each other, and to see the value moving between them.

Over time, building eCommerce stores stopped being exciting. Building the future of self-organization was. Paweł sold the company and started Marketlum to distill everything that entrepreneurial journey taught him into a framework and a product, and to keep experimenting, this time with AI agents on the team.
